About Clermont
Clermont is a city in Lake County, Florida. As of the 2008 census, the population of the city was 13,100. The city proper has a total area of 11.5 square miles. It is located approximately 22 miles west of Orlando, and that location has led to its rapid growth. Known for its rolling hills, Clermont is commonly referred to as the “Gem of the Hills”.
The Clermont area was first settled in 1853 by James Anderson. It was later founded in 1884 and incorporated in 1916. As many others areas in Florida, citrus was the major industry which is evidenced by the Florida Citrus Tower, a 226-foot tall building constructed in 1956. It was built to enable visitors to view the miles of orange groves surrounding it. It stands at more than 500 feet above sea level.
Clermont has a variety of homes for sale. There’s a home for every families budget. Golf-course communities, well-established subdivisions, farm homes and new construction homes are available for sale. Clermont has a wide assortment of retail shops, restaurants, championship golf courses, and nature based recreational facilities.
